Coca’s Kyoto Adventure

A Magical Day in One of My Favorite Cities

Konnichiwa, tomodachi! (that means friend) It’s me, Coca, wagging my tail through the ancient streets of Kyoto. This city has a special kind of magic — the kind that makes your paws tingle and your heart feel full. If you’ve ever dreamed of temples, bamboo forests, and delicious snacks, Kyoto is calling your name.

Here are some of my favorite places to explore (and yes, these are all pup-approved for scenery, excitement, and tail-wag potential!):

🏯 Top Spots to Visit
  • Fushimi Inari Shrine – Thousands of bright red torii gates. Perfect for photos and big adventures.

  • Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) – It sparkles in the sunlight like it’s made of treasure.

  • Arashiyama Bamboo Grove – Tall bamboo as far as the eye can see… it feels like walking in a dream.

  • Gion District – Old wooden streets, lanterns, and so much history.

  • Kiyomizu-dera Temple – Incredible views over Kyoto, especially at sunset.

🍜 Local Foods to Try

(Trust me… your humans will thank you.)

  • Matcha everything — ice cream, lattes, cakes… Kyoto does it right.

  • Yatsuhashi — sweet cinnamon treats.

  • Sushi & sashimi — fresh and melt-in-your-mouth.

  • Udon noodles — cozy, warm, and slurpy.

  • Takoyaki — little octopus balls that smell amazing (I got to sniff… but not eat).

If you want an easy way to see a bunch of these places in one day without getting tired legs — human or pup — there’s a fun Kyoto sightseeing bus that gives you beautiful open-top views of the city. It’s a relaxing way to explore while soaking in the magic. There's also tons of other ways to explore Kyoto.

Kyoto will always be one of my favorite places in the world because every corner feels like a story waiting to be told. And I can’t wait to show you more of Japan soon… stay tuned, tomodachi!
